Jumbo! Another name for the African Savannah Elephant. The name Jumbo just tries to describe the ambiguity of the Biggest mammal on Earth. With its life span of 70 years, it can grow up to 7.5m long, 3.3m high and 6tonnes in weight. Its size is not even close to the most interesting facts about it. African Savana Elephants’ calves are born after a gestation period of 22months and might breast feed till 6 years. They live in groups of 10 consisting of related females and their calves. Male live on their own or might form small groups. The female small groups lead by the oldest female (matriarch) might join up with other groups to form a clan of up to 70 in number. Now imagine spotting a whole clan walking gracefully in a single line to a swamp every morning. Seeing a calve and a mother play in the swamp is another thing. These emotional mammals will show you the real mothers love by how they care for their calves. And that is why we made a special safari for people to learn the Magical African Savana Elephants.
